Apparently it was a business woman in the liquor store. She and her colleagues (Day et al), sued in the possession of the rights to Bass Pale Ale & Co. in trademark white and Charles B. Webster (Webster et al) to (day fraud Webster) for his London club Pale Ale White Label . Webster appealed and December 31, 1897 in New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, First Department reversed the trial court against him.
